Liquids heat faster when you use a lid. Trapping steam and heat helps soups, sauces, and even milk come to temperature more quickly while saving energy. Next time you’re simmering a tomato sauce, bringing water to boil, or heating milk for hot cocoa, pop a lid on the pot or pan. A lid will cut down on cooking time and keep your stovetop less messy.
